| Explaination | My financial interest lies in my licensure as a doctor of acupuncture and herbal medicine of which I've served the public within my private practice for over 22 years. I've earned a living through this practice and through my work as a licensed acupuncturist which is under the Maryland Acupuncture Board's purview/rules and regulations.
Moreover, I am employed at the Maryland University of Integrative Health and have held the role of department chair where I oversee curriculum that meets the standards for licensure. This is accomplished by way of the rules and regulations of our accreditors, and with the Maryland Acupuncture Board’s regulations in mind. While I hold these two roles in the community, it may be viewed as a conflict in potential service to the board. Therefore, I request that I be granted an exemption.
I do also believe that I have the intention and capacity to serve in an objective manner, with good character, integrity, and judgement. If awarded this opportunity, my goal is to serve as a community member and/or a professional member for the very board that has provided me the privilege and opportunity to practice this amazing medicine in the State of Maryland.
