| Explaination | I am a licensed acupuncturist in Maryland and the owner/operator of a private acupuncture clinic. Because the Board of Acupuncture regulates the profession in which I practice, my ownership and employment could be viewed as a financial and employment conflict under the Public Ethics Law. This is the standard situation for professional members serving on their own regulatory boards. I am therefore requesting an exemption so that I may serve on the Board while continuing my private practice.
