Governor Larry Hogan and Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford welcome you to the Vacancies and Potential Seats Report for Maryland state boards and commissions, and they thank you for your interest in serving. This transparent resource, now available online for the first time in state history, provides information to candidates looking to serve on state boards and commissions, and the online portal makes it easier than ever to apply and to find both current and future vacancies.

Maryland relies greatly on the volunteer assistance of citizens from all walks of life to become involved and to make a contribution in public service. Some of these seats require a special area of expertise, while others require general public perspective from good hard working citizens. For this reason, you will find that most state boards and commissions, and even those which are highly specialized, provide for participation from the general public.

The following page will give you potential seats and upcoming seats on boards and commissions.

The Vacancies and Potential Seats Report will provide the following information:

  • Seats that are currently vacant;
  • Terms that are soon to expire, within one year from the run date of this report; and
  • Terms that have expired, but still have members serving in a holdover status.

This report is current as of today, but please note that it is subject to change on a daily basis as appointments are made and as members cycle on and off.

Candidates may apply for any board or commission at any time, but priority attention is paid to vacancies and seats that are soon to expire.
